Competitions

Chapter of the Year: IFTSA chapters (a.k.a. food science clubs) submit reports to compete for the honor of being "Chapter of the Year".

College Bowl: Food science trivia competition for food science students. Schools within each region compete, sending the winning team to compete at the finals during the Student Welcome Assembly at the Annual Meeting and Food Expo.

Excellence in Leadership Award: Department heads from each school submit nominations for one graduate and one undergraduate student. Awards are given at the Student Welcome Assembly at the Annual Meeting each year.

Product Development: Teams from each school design a brand new product and submit a report on their idea. Finalists present the product and poster at the Annual Meeting each year.

Undergraduate Research Paper: Undergraduate students submit abstracts of their research. Selected finalists give an oral presentation at the Annual Meeting.

IFT Division Competitions: See the winners for the various oral and poster competitions hosted by IFT divisions.

Disney - IFTSA Product Development Competition: Teams consisting of two to five students develop a product targeted to children under the age of 12 and submit their proposal. Finalists present their proposal at the Annual Meeting.

Other Student Competitions: Competitions hosted by various food science related organizations as well as IFT Divisions whom offer prizes to students.
